Nighttime Golf Cart Driving Tips
While most golf cart driving is done during the daylight hours, you may have occasions where you’ll have to drive your golf cart at night. If it’s winter, the sun may go down before you finish your game, and if you’re using your golf cart at an event, the festivities may carry well into the night. Here are a few safety tips on how to operate your golf cart when it’s dark out.
Turn on Your Lights
A golf cart isn’t safe to use after dark if it isn’t equipped with lights! You should have some bright headlights on your golf cart that you can turn on to allow you to see and be seen as you drive.
Adhere to Speed Limits
Golf carts don’t go very fast to begin with, but you probably don’t want to use them at top speed after the sun goes down. If the area where you’re using them has a speed limit, you’ll need to adhere to that. If not, try not to go faster than 10 or 15 miles per hour to give yourself time to react to people, animals, or anything else in your path.
Keep Your Windshield Clean
If your golf cart has a windshield, you’ll want to wipe it down before nighttime driving. This way, streaks and water spots won’t cause glare, which can distract you or cause you to fail to see obstacles ahead.
