Every golf enthusiast knows about the people who are famous specifically for playing golf, such as Tiger Woods or Arnold Palmer. But what about the many people who are famous for other reasons who love golf? Several of your favorite celebrities and many well-known historical figures are avid golfers and we’ve listed some of them below so you can share this trivia with your fellow golfers.

Queens & Kings

Many members of European royalty were known for their love of golf, especially in Scotland and England. The first may have been Mary, Queen of Scots, who played the game despite it being considered unladylike. James VII of Scotland was also a fan of the game. King Charles I was the royal who brought the game down to England.

Movies 

Actors also love to play golf. Old Hollywood was especially renowned for their love of golfing. Comedian Bob Hope was often found playing golf, as was the classic actress Katharine Hepburn. Silent film stars started the trend, which meant that you could find Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks on the green. A number of golf clubs in and around Los Angeles catered specifically to these luminaries and their love of the game.
