Ways to Improve Your Golf Game at Home
During the off-season, you probably don’t want your golfing skills to become rusty. So how do you keep them sharp or make them better when you can’t hit up the course because it’s cold or rainy outside? Simple: you improve them at home! Here are a few great ways you can improve your golf game so that you can impress all your friends in the springtime with your finesse.
1. Do Some Stretches
Keeping limber is important to being able to swing a club freely. Stretch on a regular basis to ensure your arms and legs are nice and loose and ready to play. You can look up stretches online or even try out a yoga class that will help increase your muscles’ flexibility.
2. Try Using Alignment Aids
It’s sometimes challenging to align your shots correctly, but you can hone this skill by using some alignment aids to guide your eyes towards the target. Laying clubs down on the ground is an easy way to do this, or you could try putting down strips of masking tape.
3. Address Your Posture
Good posture is key to a successful golf swing. Set up a full-length mirror in your garage or against the wall in an empty room (not a room full of breakable objects!) and grab your club. You’ll want to ensure that you’re bending forward at the hips to place your chest above your knees, and your chest should be over your toes, allowing your hands to hang freely from your shoulders. Adjust your posture as needed and take a few practice swings to see how it feels.
